What a journey that goalkeeper Cecilia Ran has had so far at the young age of 18. Cecilia Ran started playing football when she was six years old. At the age of 10, she specialized in being a goalkeeper. Since then, she has played this position for both local teams and the national football team in Iceland. In 2020 she was named the best Young Player of the Year at Best-deild kvenna, the top-tier women’s football league in Iceland.

The Iceland national women’s football team represents Iceland in international women’s football. They currently rank as 17th best women’s national team in the world by FIFA (2022). They have qualified for the 2022 UEFA Women’s Euro, where Cecilia Ran will also take part.

In January 2022, Cecilia Ran joined the German club for FC Bayern Munich, part of Frauen-Bundesliga, the top women’s league in Germany.
